We Love Our Wigwam!

I think I’m starting to get jealous of my children! We were lucky enough to be sent this gorgeous wigwam from www.playhouses.co.uk and I'm so jealous... we never had anything like this when I was their age! They are too lucky and don’t appreciate how great this wigwam is. Therefore, I have concluded that companies should forget the kids and make the wigwams for adults instead. I could hide for hours... days.... weeks at a time with a bottle of wine, book and quilt and I would appreciate it every second. In my heart I know it would end up with the entire family in it, but I can dream.

This wigwam is just too cool (I realise saying ‘cool’ is very un-cool of me but I just can’t think of a better way to describe it) for words. If you want to beat all others and be the favourite auntie/uncle/person then buy this for the kids as a present. You will also be their parent’s favourite person in the world as their little darlings insist on staying in it for ages with the door closed. Everyone’s a winner!

Our two kids, Jonny (three) and Sophie (seventeen months) were so excited when the wigwam arrived. Thank goodness it is really easy to put together, even with the kids ‘helping’. Within ten minutes they were both happily shut up in their new home whilst dad and I sat on the settee with a cup of tea (would have been something stronger but it was only 7:30am).

It turns out the wigwam is big enough for said children to lie down in, play around, have lunch etc etc. As the weather is far too rubbish to be outside it lives behind the settee in the living room and is brought out every day. We can’t wait until the spring and summer when we can put it up in the garden and mask the sounds of sibling fighting by a piece of canvas with a rabbit on it.

It’s so easy to put up with a few clear and simple instructions and can be easily taken apart for storage. The dowel rods are a little rough around the edges but they are designed for outdoors and certainly do the job. They slide easily into elastic loops and fit into the base of the canvas which makes the whole thing pretty stable. Easily threaded rope and wooden balls fix everything together at the top.

The canvas is the really quality part of this product. It is thick, strong and water resistant. The design is beautiful and very simple with the designs you would expect to find on the real thing (including the sun, zig-zags and nature stuff).

I would recommend this product completely. It inspires children’s imaginations and anything that gives the adults a few minutes peace has to be worth it’s weight in gold. If I had a couple of things I would like extra it would be an integrated ground sheet and a storage bag. However, even without these it’s still brilliant!

This great product might just save my sanity this winter and keep the kids entertained. We can't wait for the good weather to return so we can put it up outside. This wigwam should definitely be high on everyone's Christmas shopping list - I for one am going to buy it for nieces and nephews.

The wigwam is suitable for children from 1 years. It retails at £49.99 and can be purchased from www.playhouses.co.uk.

This wigwam was received free of charge. This has not in any way influenced our opinion of the product and, as always, our review is completely honest.
